File Format Support
FLOGVIT.culling supports a wide range of image and video formats from all major camera manufacturers.
RAW Formats
| Format | Manufacturer | Extension | |--------|-------------|-----------| | Canon RAW v3 | Canon | .cr3 | | Canon RAW v2 | Canon | .cr2 | | Nikon Electronic Format | Nikon | .nef | | Sony Alpha RAW | Sony | .arw | | Fujifilm RAW | Fujifilm | .raf | | Digital Negative | Adobe | .dng | | Olympus RAW Format | OM System / Olympus | .orf | | Panasonic RAW v2 | Panasonic | .rw2 | | Pentax Electronic File | Pentax / Ricoh | .pef |
For RAW files, FLOGVIT.culling extracts the embedded JPEG preview for instant display, then optionally loads the full RAW data. This gives you immediate image access without waiting for RAW decoding.
Standard Image Formats
| Format | Extension | |--------|-----------| | JPEG | .jpg, .jpeg | | TIFF | .tif, .tiff | | PNG | .png | | WebP | .webp | | HEIF / HEIC | .heif, .heic |
HEIF/HEIC support includes Canon CR3 HDR mode images.
Video Formats
FLOGVIT.culling displays video thumbnails and basic metadata (duration, resolution, framerate) for:
| Format | Extension | |--------|-----------| | MP4 | .mp4 | | QuickTime | .mov | | Matroska | .mkv | | WebM | .webm | | AVI | .avi | | MPEG-4 Video | .m4v |
Filter to video files with Option+V.
RAW+JPEG Handling
When your camera shoots both RAW and JPEG simultaneously, FLOGVIT.culling detects file pairs with the same base filename and can treat them as a single unit. Configure this behavior in Settings → General:
- Show both — Display RAW and JPEG as separate files
- Combine — Show one entry per pair; choose which to display (RAW or JPEG)
- Hide JPEG — Only show the RAW file
XMP Sidecar Files
All metadata changes (ratings, flags, labels, crop, rotation, IPTC) are written to .xmp sidecar files. Original files are never modified. XMP sidecars are compatible with:
- Adobe Lightroom
- Capture One
- darktable
- Photo Mechanic
- Any software that reads XMP
For JPEG and DNG files, metadata can optionally be written directly into the file (configured in Settings → IPTC / XMP).
Audio Notes
Images with companion audio files (.wav or .mp3 with the same base filename) show an audio icon. Press A to play or stop the audio note. Audio playback stops automatically when you navigate to another image.
