FLOGVIT.photosuite is a GPU-accelerated application built for speed. Here's what you need to run it.

Minimum Requirements#

Component Requirement
OS macOS 11 or later on Apple Silicon, or Windows 10/11 (64-bit)
CPU Apple M1 or later; on Windows, 4 cores x86_64
RAM 8 GB
GPU Metal (every Apple Silicon Mac), or Vulkan 1.2 / DirectX 12 on Windows
Disk 500 MB for installation + cache space
Display 1280×720 minimum
Component Recommendation
OS macOS 14+, Windows 11
CPU Apple M-series Pro/Max, or 8+ cores (Intel 12th gen+, AMD Ryzen 5000+)
RAM 16 GB or more
GPU Dedicated GPU with 2+ GB VRAM, or Apple Silicon integrated
Disk SSD strongly recommended — NVMe for best performance

What works on Mac and on Windows#

Everything not listed here — culling, develop, the library, export, delivery, workflows and the API — is the same on both.

Performance Notes#

RAM#

The memory cache holds decoded images for instant navigation. Default is 50 images. With 16 GB RAM you can increase this in Settings → Performance for smoother scrolling through large folders.

GPU#

FLOGVIT.photosuite uses wgpu for all image rendering. Any modern GPU with Vulkan 1.2 or DirectX 12 (Windows) or Metal (macOS) will work. Integrated graphics are fine for culling — a dedicated GPU mainly helps with large 4K+ displays.

Storage#

  • SSD: Recommended for the image cache and working folders. RAW files load significantly faster from SSD.
  • HDD: Works but navigation will be slower, especially for large RAW files (50–80 MB each).
  • Network drives: Supported but performance depends on network speed. Local copies are always faster.

FLOGVIT.photosuite tells a hard disk from an SSD, on a Mac and on Windows, and reads a hard disk one file at a time so it does not seek back and forth.

Multi-Monitor#

Multi-monitor setups work out of the box. Each additional display increases GPU memory usage slightly. See Multi-Monitor for setup details.

macOS Notes#

  • Built for Apple Silicon (M1 and later) and runs natively. Intel Macs are not supported.
  • The download is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so Gatekeeper opens it without warnings.

Windows Notes#

  • 64-bit Windows 10 or later.
  • GPU drivers should be up to date.
  • Race numbers are read with Windows' own text recognition, which comes with English and the other Latin-script languages. If no picture gets a number, add English under Settings → Time & language → Language & region.
  • The installer is code-signed by FLOGVIT DATA Vegard Hanssen. While the app is new to Windows, SmartScreen may still say it does not recognise it: choose More info → Run anyway.

Linux#

There is no Linux build.
